Connecting Women Through History, Service & Community
Serving Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, Castro Valley, and neighboring East Bay communities, the José Maria Amador Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) brings together women who are passionate about making a difference.
Whether we're restoring historic markers, supporting veterans, encouraging literacy, recognizing outstanding students, or celebrating America's heritage, our members are actively engaged in preserving the past while strengthening our communities for the future.
If you're looking for meaningful volunteer opportunities, lasting friendships, engaging speakers, or help discovering your Revolutionary War Patriot ancestor, we'd love to welcome you.
Why Women Join Our Chapter
Women join the José Maria Amador Chapter for many different reasons. Some begin with an interest in family history, while others are looking for opportunities to volunteer, learn, and connect with women who share a passion for service.
Our members include professionals, educators, retirees, business owners, mothers, grandmothers, and community leaders. What unites us is a commitment to serving others through the DAR's mission of Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism.
With more than 70 members, our chapter offers opportunities to participate as much—or as little—as your schedule allows.
Making a Difference Close to Home
Throughout the year, our members work alongside local schools, libraries, veterans' organizations, and city partners to make a positive impact across the Tri-Valley.
Some of our recent projects include:
- Restoring and preserving local historic markers
- Celebrating Constitution Week through educational displays and community outreach
- Sponsoring American History Essay and Constitution Poster contests for local students
- Supporting veterans, active-duty military, and their families
- Maintaining Little Free Libraries that encourage childhood literacy
- Participating in America250! commemorative activities
- Recognizing outstanding students, educators, first responders, and community leaders
- Partnering with museums, libraries, and civic organizations to preserve local history
Whether serving one afternoon or leading a long-term project, every member has the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution. These initiatives reflect the chapter's ongoing commitment to historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
More Than Meetings
Our chapter meets monthly from January through May and September through December.
Meetings feature engaging guest speakers, opportunities to learn about American history, updates on community projects, and plenty of time to build friendships with women who enjoy learning, volunteering, and giving back.
Visitors are always welcome to learn more about our chapter.
